While listening to new country artists, do you find yourself wondering what happened to the purists, or the traditional country artists? The ones whose talent outweighed their flashy performances?
Don’t get me wrong, today’s country artists influenced by rock are also spectacular in their own right, but sometimes you just want to take it back to a simpler time and James Robert Webb manages to do just that. When I got the email regarding him, I was surprised, mostly because our submissions are not in the genre of country music, but also because once I heard him I was impressed.
At a quick glance I thought “Aww he’s adorable” but then when I hit play on “Daddy Made a Million” I was hooked. His voice and his demeanor both showcase the artists that he cites he grew up listening to, and he’s a modern day traditionalist. I absolutely enjoyed listening to every song of his that I could get my hands on, and it was a nice change of pace from today’s country. It’s good to alternate every now and again, and find appreciation for the diversity even within the niche of a genre.
His single is due out July 26, 2015 and I’m here to tell you, if you’re a country music fan you should definitely give him a listen.
